This place has a great vibe—spacious and quieter than most NYC spots on a Friday night, which was a nice change. You can actually hear the person you’re talking to. The service was top notch—super friendly and attentive without being overbearing.

The Sourdough Pillow is an absolute must, so warm and fluffy—definitely worth ordering as a starter. Nana’s Meatballs were solid, and the kale Caesar salad was great—fresh and more flavorful than most I’ve had. The Mortadella Buns were a nice surprise, kind of like a fancy Italian sandwich with a crunchy, toasted bun and great herbal flavor from the pistachio pesto sauce.

The pepperoni pizza was easily the best thing I ate—seriously good. The arugula pizza, on the other hand, was just okay—a bit dry and not as flavorful. The pasta was fine but nothing special. I ordered the rigatoni and tagliatelle, and neither were outstanding, both lacked flavor. Pizza seems to be their forte.

Overall, it’s a great spot for an intimate date night or a small group gathering if you’re looking for high-quality Italian food and elevated dining experience.

The service and ambiance were excellent at Trattoria One Fifth, but the food was rather lacking. The grape focaccia was nearly too salty to eat, and the squash rigatoni had so much black pepper on it that it was actually spicy, something I’ve never experienced with ground black pepper. It completely overwhelmed the dish. On the other end of the spectrum, the polenta was disappointingly bland. The best thing we had was the chicken liver mousse crostini, which was very tasty.

To be clear, the waitstaff were excellent, the atmosphere was exactly what we were looking for, and the prices were not egregious. We had a pleasant evening, but are unlikely to return because of the food.

Trattoria One Fifth offers a wonderful atmosphere with a charming, low-lit ambiance that sets the scene perfectly for an after-work happy hour. The $5 Negronis and delicious bites are a great way to unwind!

We decided to get adventurous and order most of the appetizers. The stars of the show for our group were the Tuna Crudo and Mozzarella in Carrozza—the chili lobster sauce was out of this world! Naturally, we couldn’t resist trying the Margherita pizza and the 50Cut Sausage. Both were delicious—the sausage was incredibly flavorful, and the pizza was perfection.

For my main, I chose the Little Shells after catching a whiff from a nearby table, and it was every bit as delectable as I’d hoped. Some of the other mains were enjoyable but didn’t have the same depth of flavor I was looking for.

Overall, we had a wonderful experience and will certainly be back. If you can’t make it for a full sit-down meal, I’d definitely recommend stopping by at the bar for a relaxing escape from the city’s hustle and bustle. Trattoria One Fifth is a hidden gem that’s well worth the visit! Sorry for the poor quality pictures I was so hungry I started eating before my camera ?

Best meal of our trip! We ordered the scallops, the chicken, bolognese, fish, sourdough pillow, shishito peppers and the tiramisu - all of which were INCREDIBLE. All of the craft cocktails were so delicious and fresh. I truly couldn’t pick a favorite so I would reorder all of it again. The service was above and beyond, so friendly and attentive (thank you Summer and Nathan). It was such a wonderful experience, we will be back!!

One Fifth has a perfect Margherita pizza! The sauce is just sweet enough, the cheese was so light and fresh, and the dough has just enough softness and structure. It’s also a great size for two people to share. No notes!

The little shells bolognese has an amazing texture, but the sauce was too salty. There was also a hint of spiciness in the sauce, which reminded me of chili in a strange way. I like that they use green shell noodles though! That was a nice surprise.

Service was great. I would definitely return for the magnificent pizza and to try some of their other entrées.

Update from 8/10/2024:
I just revisited One Fifth and they are very consistent: the pizza remains PERFECT. (it’s my favorite pizza in nyc currently). This time we had the rigatoni allá vodka. Consistent with our last visit, the noodles are perfection but the sauce is just a little too salty!

Sam the bartender was outstanding very knowledgeable and efficient about the menu and the history of the establishment. The food was delicious from appetizers to the main courses. The cocktails from the spirit forward menu was delicious.

The staff from entry to exit was very courteous and organically polite. If you are looking to impress a date or family function I would highly recommend this place. Yes they have pizza and it's AMAZING don't forget the extra virgin olive oil gelato.... amongst a few others I checked below. Enjoy

I have been meaning to come here since it opened. I have many memories from this room when it used to be another famed spot. If you knew Otto then you’ll see the room has not changed much except the decor. Slightly more rustic in appearance but still classic.

The front room (bar area) is where I was on this particular evening. I was meeting my wife after work on a Friday evening, and the joint was jumping. The crowd was filled with a young-ish crowd of couples and groups of friends shaking off the week with their $5 Negronis. It was a deal for sure, but I went for the wine.

I was fortunate as the bar was packed when I arrived; it didn’t take long for several seats to open up as people moved on. I made friends with the bartender and sat down, and when my wife arrived, we ordered some food.

After a quick discussion, the pizza seemed to be a must-have, so I ordered one. My wife had the tuna Crudo, and some brussels sprouts on the side, and we started with the calamari.

The calamari was excellent, not breaded but smothered in bits of fried garlic. Good thing we are married :-). The pizza was fantastic, with a great crust, just the right size. And a rich flavor; they even paired down the cheese for me. Tuna Crudo had a lot of olives on it, which threw me a little, and the brussels sprouts were not a big hit; I am not a fan of
Pomegranate, so that was a deal breaker.

All in all, a few glasses of wine and the food cost just over $200, so you will pay a premium, but the room is lively and pretty. The service is impeccable, and the location is fantastic.
