C'è poco da aggiungere sui piatti: un piatto può piacere più di un altro a livello personale, ma il risultato finale è sempre qualcosa di sublime.

Una nota separata per il servizio: il nostro cameriere, Alessio, un ragazzo di Roma, impeccabile e molto gentile, ma non di una gentilezza finta. La spontaneità del personale ci è piaciuta molto e ci ha fatto sentire a casa.

We don’t usually leave bad reviews, but our experience at Matteo Trattoria & Pizzeria just wasn’t great.

The vibe and music were awesome—fun and upbeat—but the food and service really let us down. We ordered the chicken marsala, and it came with potatoes instead of pasta. That caught us off guard since we’re used to it being served with pasta. When we asked the waiter about it, he kind of brushed us off and made things awkward. We even brought it up again later, but nothing was done, so the dish sat there untouched the whole time. We ended up boxing it up to take home for someone else in the family to try, but it’s frustrating that they didn’t make it right.

We also ordered two pizzas. One was good, but the other was burnt. When we mentioned it to the waiter, he just walked away like he didn’t hear us. My husband loved his chicken parmesan, so at least one dish was a win, but the rest of the experience really soured the visit.

When we were checking out, we mentioned again that the chicken marsala wasn’t touched, and the waiter didn’t even apologize. It was honestly so strange and disappointing.

We loved the atmosphere, but the food and service just weren’t worth it. Sadly, we wouldn’t go back.

Our only complaint was that it was a bit warm in the restaurant (but it’s summer and you know those AC units have to work overtime the temperature down to even a moderately comfortable temperature).

I got the mushroom gnocchi and the flavor was amazing. The gnocchis were a little dense, but even if that was a slight negative I ate almost the entire plate and I only stopped because I knew we were going to be walking around and I didn’t want to be dying from eating too much and walking around lol. People in my group got the spaghetti and meatballs, the 4 cheese pizza, the burrata pizza, and a veggie pizza that I forgot the name of. Everyone was very happy with their meals. I forget the name of the cocktail I got, but it was gin or vodka based and it was delightful (and so pretty)

We enjoy the fabulous meal and great company at Matteo. The pizza was remarkably good. The dough is divine! Tiramisu is one of the best we've ever had!

Cozy Italian spot with good food and even better service. It was hard to choose what to order because there were such great options - we ended up each getting pasta and then a pizza to share. We’ll have to come back to try some other items too!

I got the Strozzapretti Della Casa pasta because I had never had a pasta dish like that and it did not disappoint. I got to try a bite of the Alfredo with the eggplant and tomatoes and it was really good with a somewhat Smokey flavor in there. The Carnivora pizza was really good - I wasn’t sure at first because it was difficult to pick up as the dough was too thin but the flavor was there for sure.

Shoutout to our server, she made great recommendations and was such a sweetheart. We loved talking with her. I cannot recall her name but she was from Albania.

While the food was good, it was definitely the cozy vibe and the service that amplified the experience to five stars.

The food is really good - we had a group of 9 people, ordered everything from pizzas to veal parmigiana to gnocchi. Every dish was really well prepared. One of our group is gluten and dairy free and she said that the gluten free pizza was the best she ever had. We will return!

Wow - extremely surprised and impressed with this spot!

We were looking for a low key date night spot on Saturday and stumbled upon this restaurant. We were able to get a reservation for two around 6 pm. The inside is a combination of trendy but also classy and casual.

When we sat down, the waiter let us know that they were known for their pizza so naturally; we had one for our appetizer. We had the spicy salami and jalapeno pizza and it was probably one of the best pizzas I have had. The dough was very light, the ingredients were fresh, and the sauce was flavorful. For entree, we split the shrimp gnocchi and once again; were in love with it! The sauce was a bit spicy and the gnocchi were delicious.

Highly recommend.

Went in yesterday to place a take out order. The girl working the front was extremely kind. My husband unfortunately limits gluten and garlic due to stomach issues. Ordering without those two things is always stressful. She without hesitation or annoyance took our order perfectly. The food was great and perfect portions. We haven't gotten a good Italian meal with everything correct in st pete in SO long. Highly recommend.
